Wine bottle bags in bulk: how to choose between drawstring bags and carriers

Jute and cotton single-bottle drawstring wine bags beside a two-bottle jute carrier on a stone shelf

Wine bottle bags look simple, but the wrong style costs you at the till. A bag that is too narrow tears at the shoulder of the bottle. A carrier with weak handles frustrates the customer who is walking home with two bottles. This guide covers the three main styles for wholesale orders, how to size them and what to settle before you place a bulk order.

Jute or cotton for a single bottle?

Jute gives a natural, textured look that suits wine. It is firm, holds its shape and prints best with bold, simple artwork. Coloured jute drawstring bags add a brand colour without any print. Cotton is smoother and softer, so it takes finer detail and lettering. It also suits a lighter, cleaner look. Our jute and cotton guide compares the fabrics in more detail.

Both are available as single-bottle drawstring bags. Browse the wine and gift bags range to see the options, including cotton drawstring wine bags and coloured jute drawstring wine bags.

When a two-bottle carrier makes sense

If your customers usually buy more than one bottle, a carrier saves you handing out two bags. The two-bottle jute wine carrier has cotton webbing handles and is made to carry two bottles side by side. It is also the better choice for restaurants and tasting rooms, where guests carry bottles out together.

Size: get the bottle first

  • Standard 750 ml bottle: a single-bottle bag around 5 x 14 in suits most still wines. Check your tallest bottle before you commit.
  • Wider or taller bottles: sparkling and some spirit bottles are wider at the base. Measure the widest point and the full height, then allow a little extra.
  • Two-bottle carriers: around 7 x 14 in fits two standard bottles. Measure your own bottles, as shapes vary.
  • Bags with a tote shape: if you are packing a bottle with other items, choose a wine tote bag with a firm base instead.

Send us a bottle measurement or a sample bottle shape with your enquiry and we will confirm the size before production.

Printing on wine bags

Wine bags are often a brand touchpoint, so print matters. On jute, keep the artwork bold and the lettering large, as the weave fills in fine lines. Cotton handles more detail. A woven label is a quiet alternative on either fabric. Our printing methods guide explains which method suits which fabric, and the custom logo drawstring bags page shows a drawstring print example.

What to confirm before you order

  1. Bottle height and widest diameter, for each type you stock.
  2. Fabric: jute for a natural look, cotton for a fine print.
  3. Style: single-bottle drawstring, two-bottle carrier or gift tote.
  4. Print: colours, placement and your artwork file (vector is best).
  5. Quantity, with our minimum order of 300 pieces in mind.
  6. A sample with your artwork approved before the bulk run.
